We’ve got plenty of action going on off the trails during November! Here’s the November 2017 calendar of events from our friends at Visit Mercer County, WV:
November 4: The Holler: Appalachian Art Gallery in Princeton on Mercer Street presents: FEUD in the Holler! At 7 p.m. Feuders will be given a surprise art supply and mystery theme and one hour to create a masterpiece. The audience will vote and the winner receives a prize. The cost is $10 to participate and $5 to watch.
November 4: There will be a community breakfast for all veterans and families at 9 a.m. at the Princeton Church of God in Princeton. Admission is free. For more information, please call 304-888-1718.
November 5: Join the East River Mountain Town Band for a patriotic evening. The concert will take place at the Bluefield performing Arts Center at Bluefield High School from 3 P.M. – 5 P.M. Admission is free. If you would like more information call (304) 952-1792.
November 11: Princeton will host a Veteran’s Day parade at noon in downtown Princeton on Mercer Street.
November 11: The second annual Veterans Ball will be held at the Bluefield Arts Center in Bluefield. This black tie event is to raise money for veteran organizations. There will be guest speakers, music, dancing, and a silent auction. Happy Hour starts at 5:30 P.M. followed by dinner at 7 P.M. Free admission for veterans. Tickets are $10 for other attendees. November 12: There will be a Veteran’s Day celebration at the Chuck Mathena Center in Princeton from 12 P.M. – 3 P.M. Free admission. Call 304-425-5128.
November 11 &12: Railfest 2017: Model Train Show invites train enthusiasts to enjoy this one-of-kind train show from the days of the railroad. The show is a favorite of many children who love trains. Adult collectors will enjoy multiple rooms filled with trains and memorabilia. There will be door prizes given away and refreshments available. The cost is $5.00 per person and $10.00 a family. It is held at The Bluefield Youth Center, 1780 Stadium Drive. Hours: Saturday 9 A.M.-5 P.M. Sunday 12 P.M.-5 P.M. For more information, call (304) 431-2593 or (304) 325-7745.
November 17: The McKameys, one of the most popular southern Gospel groups in the country, will take the stage at the Chuck Mathena Center at 7 P.M. Tickets are $18. For more information, call the CMC at 304-425-5128.
November 23: The City of Bluefield welcomes you to one of the largest light displays in the two Virginias. The Holiday of Lights opens the night of Thanksgiving and hrough December 31. Take a drive through Lotito City Park which has been transformed into a showcase of holiday themes with over a million lights and 110+ acres. There will be nightly activities including, bonfires, hayrides, live nativity, and a ride on the trolley to see Santa. Times are as follows. Sunday-Thursday: 6 P.M. – 9 P.M. and Friday – Saturday: 6 P.M. – 10 P.M. Admission is free but donations are accepted. Call for more information (304) 327-2448.
November 27: The Princeton Christmas Parade “Christmas Joy” returns to Mercer Street at 6 p.m. With over 100 parade units and one mile of parade route, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
